You downloaded the BubCon Messener in Google Play Store. However, the app is not considered downloaded in your Google Play Store Account? Please proceed as follows:

  1. Please make sure that you use the same Google Account as you used when you downloaded BubCon.
  2. Log on to Google Play Store from your computer –> Settings –> My Orders
  3. You should find BubCon in your orders: clear cache and delete the data of the apps «Google Play Store» and «Downloads» as described in the following instructions of Google.
  4. Restart your cell-phone and register again on Google Play Store. Now you can reinstall (update) BubCon.
  5. If you cannot find BubCon in your orders, you probably downloaded BubCon with a different Google Account.

Design

On the main screen you will find a toolbar at the top and at the bottom of the screen. Every icon has its own meaning and purpose.

Icons at the top:
The four icons at the top help for orientation. As a result you always know on which page of the main screen you are right now. Depending on which page you are, the icon will be highlighted.

Calls – The “call log” shows you all made and missed Voice- and Video Calls. You can also call your contacts from this screen.
Home – From the main screen you get an overview of all current chats.
Unread messages – The history list of all unread messages is a list of all unread messages. As soon as you tap on one of the unread chats you are automatically lead to the respective message.
Highlight – This icon pops up when you were highlighted in a group chat with the symbol @. When you choose a highlight you are automatically lead to the respective highlight in the chat.

Icons at the bottom:
In the white bar there are four icons and a round purple “+”.

Menu (three dots)- Tap here and you are redirected to the BubCon main menu
Filter – By clicking on the icon with the “two persons” BubCon redirects you to all current group chats. One more click on the icon leads you to all single-chats (an icon with one person is displayed). If you wish to see all chats again simply push the Home-Button.
Purple plus – With the help of this icon you can create new single- and group chats and you can also send a broadcast.
Magnifying glass – The magnifying glass enables you to look for key words in all chats.
BubCon Address Book – Here you get an overview of your BubCon contacts. You might also invite friends to use the BubCon Messenger.

You have the opportunity to choose from three different designs. In order to do so go to Settings –> Design

The “Bubble-Design” is an innovative design which shows your chats in colorful bubbles. Sub-groups are represented via small bubbles (arranged around the main chat).

The “Classic-Design” is similar to the design you are used to from other messengers. Your profile picture/group picture and the complete name of the sub-groups are displayed.

The “Business-Design” is intended for the business community. It is held clean and meets the business requirements.

To make sure that you can quickly find each sub-group, the two letters represent the first two letters of the sub-group’s name. In case you use more than one word for the name of the sub-group or if the two letters are already taken for another sub-group, an algorithm is used to choose two new letters.

If you receive a new message in one of the main chats you can see a thin ring around the main bubble (only if you use the Bubble-Design –> for more information see “How do I change the design?”). If a sub-group (small bubble) turns colored, then you received a new message in this sub-group.

Video call – Here you can activate your front camera in order to see each other while talking to each other.

You can determine the color of each chat individually. You can choose from 8 colors.

If you want to change the color of a chat, please proceed as follows:

  1. Open the main screen.
  2. Search for the respective chat (single- or group chat) that you want to change. Tap and hold the chat until a new context menu pops up.
  3. Choose “Create/Edit sub-group”. You are now lead to the configuration page.
  4. At the top of the configuration page you can choose from 8 colors. Choose the color you like by tapping on the respective color. The color of the chat is changed instantly.

To change/delete the group picture or the picture of the sub-group you have to be an administrator of the group.

If you wish to change/delete a picture, proceed as follows:

  1. Go to group chat/sub group chat
  2. Tap the name of the group above and you will be redirected to an overview of contact/group information.
  3. Tap the picture and you will have the following options:
  4. ● Camera – Take a picture with your camera.
    ● Delete – Delete the group/sub-group picture.
    ● Gallery – Choose a picture from your gallery.

As soon as you choose a picture and confirm your choice the new group/sub-group picture is set.

When using BubCon for the first time you have the opportunity to invite all of your contacts to BubCon with one simple click. You can also invite friends afterwards via your BubCon address book.

As soon as a new contact from your smartphone’s address book downloads the BubCon Messenger, this person will be registered in our database and is shown immediately in your BubCon address book. Subsequently you will receive a notification that you can communicate with him/her on BubCon.

Please think about extending the maturity date by one year before the date of expiry to use BubCon without any interruption. BubCon will remind you of the date of expiry in advance. In case you did not extend the maturity date before the date of expiry, you can do so afterwards too. After the messenger has been deactivated, you can activate your account by paying 1,99 €.

Hashtag

Our great Hashtag-feature allows more clarity in your chats and helps you find your tagged messages much quicker.

This is how you tag messages with a hashtag:

  1. Go to your chat history.
  2. Tap and hold the message(s) that you want to tag. In the upper display area you will see a menu bar with different icons.
  3. Tap on the hashtag icon. You can choose from predefined hashtags or add a new hashtag. After you chose a hashtag you can see it at the bottom of the messages you tagged before. One message can be tagged with up to three different hashtags.

Registration

You installed BubCon but did not receive a confirmation message after registration.nPlease make sure that you considered the following:

● Your device must have access to the internet. Otherwise a message or e-mail cannot be sent.
● In case you have typed your telephone number, please make sure the telephone number is correct.

If you considered the mentioned points but still did not receive a confirmation message, please try registration again. Proceed as follows:

  1. On your smartphone, go to “Settings” –> “Application manager” –> “BubCon”
  2. Delete all data.
  3. Start the BubCon app and register again.

In the registration process you will receive a message with an activation code. Depending on your smartphone the activation code will automatically appear in a box. If this does not happen automatically, please copy the activation code from the message you received and paste it into BubCon.

The registration process is simple and is done when starting BubCon for the first time.

  1. First you will be asked to accept the terms of use. You should read them carefully.
  2. In a second step you must verify your telephone number. BubCon will send a verification code to you via SMS which you will have to insert into an input box.
  3. After your telephone number has been verified, you are asked to allow BubCon to have access to your address book. This step is necessary, so that BubCon can find out which of your contacts already uses BubCon.
  4. Now you can choose a profile picture and enter a nickname. You can also enter your date of birth, so that your contacts are reminded of your birthday.
  5. In a last step you can create your first chat.

You can save/archive your chat history, i.e. a complete copy of your chat history is made.

Security & Privacy

You can block contacts and will not receive any messages or calls from them. Of course you can easily unblock these contacts again too.

You can block a contact from your BubCon address book as follows:

  1. From the main screen open the Menu –> Settings –> Security –> Blocked contacts (here you will find a list of so far blocked contacts)
  2. Tap “+” and choose the contact from your BubCon address book that you want to block. In the list of blocked contacts you will now also find the added contact.

Alternative 1: You can also block a contact directly in your BubCon address book.

  1. Tap and hold the contact that you want to block.
  2. Choose “Block contact”. The contact is now displayed as “blocked”.

Alternative 2: Go to the profile information of a contact and choose “Block contact” at the bottom.

You can unblock a contact as follows:

  1. From the main screen open the Menu –> Settings –> Security –> Blocked contacts (here you will find a list of so far blocked contacts)
  2. Tap the contact that you want to unblock.
  3. Confirm that you want to unblock this contact.

Alternative: You can also unblock a contact directly from your BubCon address book.

  1. Tap the contact that you want to unblock
  2. Choose “Unblock contact”. The contact is now unblocked.

You can block a person that is not in your BubCon address book as follows:

  1. Open the chat with the unknown number.
  2. You can now add the number to your BubCon address book or block the contact.

    ● Show typing status – Decide whether your contacts can see if you are typing a message or not.
    ● Link previews – Get a preview of sent internet links.
    ● Last time online – Decide who can see your online status. You can choose between “Everybody”, “Only my contacts” and “Nobody”.

Sending & Receiving

If you wish to send one message to several of your contacts, e.g. for New Years Eve, without sending each message individually you should use the Broadcast feature.

Important: This is not a group chat!

To send a broadcast message proceed as follows:

  1. Go to main screenn
  2. Tap the “plus icon” in the navigation bar at the bottom. A semi circle pops up with three options:

    ● Group

    ● Broadcast

  4. Choose “Broadcast” by clicking on the broadcast icon.
  5. Now you are asked to enter a name for the broadcast. After you entered a broadcast-name tap CONTINUE.
  6. Add contacts by ticking the boxes in your BubCon address book. Confirm with OK.
  7. Now you can write and send a message. Each contact receives a message as if you would communicate in a single-chat.

Shoot a new picture/record a video and send it:

  1. Go to the respective chat (single- or group chat).
  2. Tap the “paper clip” in the navigation bar at the bottom.
  3. Choose if you want to shoot a new picture or if you want to record a video.
  4. After you made the picture/ recorded the video you can take a look at it and then send or delete it.

Send a picture or video:

  1. Go to the respective chat (single- or group chat).
  2. Tap the “paper clip” in the navigation bar at the bottom.
  3. Click on “Gallery”.
  4. Choose a picture or video. (You can also choose several.)
  5. After you chose the picture/video you can take a look at it, edit the picture (turn it, crop it, add text or stickers) and then send or delete it.

Alternative: Choose a picture or a video from the quick selection bar after you clicked on the “paper clip”.

Send audio files:

  1. Go to the respective chat (single- or group chat).
  2. Tap the “paper clip” in the navigation bar at the bottom.
  3. Click on “Audio”.
  4. Choose the audio recording which you want to send.

Send documents (PDF-, Word-, Excel documents):

  1. Go to the respective chat (single- or group chat).
  2. Tap the “paper clip” in the navigation bar at the bottom.
  3. Click on “file”.
  4. Choose the file which you want to send.

Share your location:

  1. Go to the respective chat (single- or group chat).
  2. Tap the “paper clip” in the navigation bar at the bottom.
  3. Click on “location”.
  4. Your smartphone will now determine your location (GPS should be activated) and your location will be send.

Send contacts:

  1. Go to the respective chat (single- or group chat).
  2. Tap the “paper clip” in the navigation bar at the bottom.
  3. Click on “contact”.
  4. Choose the contacts that you want to send.

Send media:

  1. Go to the respective chat (single- or group chat).
  2. Tap the “paper clip” in the navigation bar at the bottom.
  3. Click on “media”.
  4. Now you can search for GIFs, pictures, freesounds and YouTube videos on the internet, directly via BubCon.
  5. Choose the media which you want to send.

If you cannot see if the message was sent or delivered to your chat partner, that may have the following reasons:

● Your chat partner doesn’t have any reception. Therefore, the message cannot be send.
● Your chat partner deactivated the delivery confirmation in his/her Security Settings to protect his/her privacy.

Next to the input box of your keyboard there is a microphone icon. Tap the microphone and you will see a big purple button which says “Hold and speak”. If you touch and hold the button you can record a voice message. After you let go of the button the message is NOT sent directly. Before sending you can listen to your voice message, continue your recording or delete the current recording. When you are satisfied with your voice message tab the Send-Icon.

In group chats you can someone’s attention by using the Highlight-feature. Simply add a “@“ + “name of group member” in a message. The highlighted message is then also shown on the main screen of the highlighted group member via a @-Icon (at the top on the right).

With this new and cool BubCon feature you can record two second videos which are then send as GIFs. To create such a video, please proceed as follows:

  1. Go to a single- or group chat.
  2. Tap the paper clip icon in the bottom bar.
  3. Swipe to the right or tap the small arrow on the right.
  4. Tap “VID Rec”. Now you can record a two second video and send it as a GIF to your friends.

You can easily forward media and messages to other chats. If you want to do so, please proceed as follows:

  1. Go to the respective chat history.
  2. Press and hold the message/media you want to forward. You will see a purple bar at the top with different icons.
  3. In order to forward the message/media tap the “right arrow icon”. You are then forwarded to the main-screen and can determine which chat you want to forward the message/media to.

There may be a delay of incoming messages due to a poor internet connection. An older operation system on your device may also be responsible for the delay. Therefore, you should get the latest version of BubCon and your operation system.

Important information for your Android-devices:
As soon as you activated the “Battery saving mode” background data are also restricted. As a result, you may not receive push notifications anymore.

Yes, you can delete a message in a single- or group chat after you have sent it. All you have to do is press and hold the respective message/picture/video/sound and select the Recycle Bin Icon in the navigation bar at the top. Select “Delete from group…” Your group members/chat partner will receive the following notification: “Message removed”. However, it cannot be guaranteed that your chat members didn’t see the message before you deleted it. You can delete a message, after you have sent it, in single- and group chats and broadcast messages.

For more clarity in chat histories (single- and group chats) BubCon offers a Reply-feature. If you want to reply to a certain message, please proceed as follows:

  1. Press and hold the message/picture/audio/GIF/document which you want to reply to.
  2. Tap the Left-Arrow-Icon at the top.
  3. The respective message is highlighted. Now you can enter your reply into the input box. After you replied, the reply-message is shown in brackets to the other group members.

 
Note:
If you tap the message you replied to, you are automatically redirected to the original spot of the respective message in the chat history. Then, the original message flashes. This is especially helpful if you want to listen to the original voice message which you want to reply to.

You have access to the picture editing feature as soon as you make a new picture or if you pick a picture from your gallery. Afterwards you can send it in a chat.

You have the following options when editing a picture (upper bar):
Sticker – Add stickers or masks to your picture.
Text – Add a text.
Cut – Cut your picture.
Trash can – Delete the edited picture.

Bottom bar:
Use a filter to improve your picture. Afterwards you can add a text or description and send it.

Note:
After selecting multiple pictures, you cannot use the picture editing feature anymore. n

In every single-chat there is an earphone icon. If you tap the icon a voice call with your communication partner will be initiated. During the call you can click on the video icon and the camera will be activated (for further information on the icons go to –> “What do the icons at the bottom mean when I am on the phone?”). Your communication partner and you are now able to see each other.

On the main screen you can see all made and missed calls in a call log.

You can turn off/ turn on the content of incoming messages on your display without having access to BubCon or unlocking your phone. If you receive a message you can see the content, presupposed the box “Show content of Pop-up message” is activated. If the box is deactivated, the content is hidden and you can only see the amount of received messages and amount of chats.

To show or hide the content of Pop-up messages proceed as follows:

  1. Go to the main screen.
  2. Open the menu by tapping the three dots in the menu bar.
  3. Choose “Settings”.
  4. Tap “Notifications”.
  5. Select “Show content of Pop-up message”. If the box is ticked, you can see the content of incoming messages in the Pop-up.

You can change your profile picture and your profile name in the profile settings at all times.

  1. Go to the main screen.
  2. Open the menu by tapping the three dots in the menu bar.
  3. Tap the space in which you can see your profile name and your profile picture. You are automatically redirected to your profile configuration page.

  1. To change your profile picture tap the camera symbol next to your picture. Now you can shoot a new picture, choose a picture from your gallery or delete the currrent profile picture.
    Change profile name:

  1. If you wish to change your profile name, you simply have to exchange the old name with the new name.
  2. Confirm the change via the checkmark (at the top right).

If you wish to do so proceed as follows:

  1. Go to the main screen.

  4. Tap the plus icon under your profile picture. Here you can shoot a new picture or choose from a picture of your gallery which is then added to your profile gallery.
  5. Subsequently, you can determine the time interval in which the profile pictures will switch.

With BubCon you can mute your messenger for an indefinite time and for a certain amount of time. With the help of this feature you can make sure that you will not be disturbed via notifications in this time.

Moreover, you have the possibility to give special authorization, i.e. you can choose certain people or group chats that are allowed to disturb you.

Activate the “Do not disturb” feature with the help of the following steps:

  1. Go to the main screen.
  2. Open the menu by tapping the three dots in the menu bar.
  3. Choose “Settings”.
  4. Select “Do not disturb”.
  5. If you choose “Activate now” BubCon will be muted completely.
  6. You can choose an individual time period via “custom settings” in which you will not be disturbed by the BubCon Messenger. Furthermore, you can determine week days in which you don’t want to be disturbed.
  7. With the help of the “ALLOW TO DISTURB” button you can determine who is excluded from the “Do not disturb” feature.

Received media are automatically saved on your smartphone. In your BM-settings you can determine if the media shall be downloaded automatically or manually. If you want to change settings, please proceed as follows:

  1. Go to the main-screen.
  2. Open the menu by tapping the icon with the three dots.

  4. Choose “Media & Storage”.
  5. Tap “Media auto-download” –> “Auto-download”. Now you can choose between:
    Yes – Media are always downloaded automatically.
    No – Media are only downloaded after you tap the media
    Only for WiFi – Media are only downloaded automatically if you have access to a WiFi network.

 
Note:
Please note that depending on your network operator there might be additional costs if you select auto-download.

Single & Group chat

If you wish to create a new single-chat with one of your contacts, please proceed as follows:

  1. Go to the main screen.
  2. Tap the plus icon in the menu bar. Now you can choose between three icons:

    ● Chat

  3. Choose “Chat”
  4. Choose the BubCon contact you want to communicate with. In the following you are redirected to the single-chat and you can start chatting with the person.

 

Alternative: Go to your BubCon address book and choose a contact you wish to chat with.

If you wish to create a group with several group members, please proceed as follows:

  1. Go to the main screen.
  2. Tap the plus icon in the menu bar. Now you can choose between three icon:

  4. Choose “Group”
  5. Now you are asked to determine a group name. Furthermore, you have the opportunity to add a group picture. However, you can also create a group without a group picture.
  6. Choose at least two contacts from your address book to create a new group. In the following you are redirected to the group-chat and you can start chatting.

In every single-, group chat and sub-group you can get information on the respective chat by tapping the name at the top.

You will get the following information in single-chats:

  • Name of chat partner
  • Profile picture and profile gallery
  • Telephone number of chat partner
  • Actual status
  • Nickname
  • E-mail address (if available)
  • Groups you both are part of
  • All sent and received pictures, videos, audios and documents
  • Button to verify contact
  • Button to block contact

You will get the following information in group-chats and sub-groups:

  • Name of group
  • Group picture
  • Name of creator of group and creation date
  • All group members, subdivided into administrators and other members
  • All sent and received pictures, videos, audios and documents

You can leave a group at all times. To do so please proceed as follows:

  1. Go to the main screen.
  2. Tap and hold the chat (bubble) until a context menu opens.
  3. Choose “Leave group” or “Leave sub-group”.
  4. Confirm with YES.

Alternative: Go to the group chat/sub-group and tap the name at the top. Scroll to the bottom where you have the possibility to leave the chat.

Note: You can also save/archive the chat history via the option “Save chat”. Afterwards you can delete the complete group, however, the chat history is still available via the menu option “Saved chats”.

You must be an administrator of the group/sub-group to delete it. If you wish to delete a group/sub-group, please proceed as follows:

  1. Go to the main screen.
  2. Tap and hold the chat (bubble) until a context menu opens.
  3. Choose “Leave group” or “Leave sub-group”.
  4. Confirm with YES.
  5. Go back to the context menu and choose “Delete group” or “Delete sub-group”
  6. Confirm with YES.

Alternative: Go to the group chat/sub-group and tap the name at the top. Scroll to the bottom where you have the possibility to leave the chat. Afterwards you can delete the chat.

In the following the other members of the group will receive a notification, regarding the group and all sub-groups. They can then decide if they would like to save the chat (which is then listed in “Saved chats”) or if they would like to delete it.

You can mute each chat, no matter if it is a main chat or sub-group. To mute a chat please proceed as follows:

  1. Go to the main screen.
  2. Tap and hold the chat until a context menu opens.
  3. Choose “Mute chat”. The slider switches to “On”. You will now see a loudspeaker which is crossed out next to the chat. From now on you won’t get any notifications in terms of sounds or vibrations when you receive messages.

You must be an administrator of the group to add members. To add members to a group please proceed as follows:

  1. Go to the respective group.
  2. Tap the group name and you are redirected to an overview of information on the group.
  3. Tap “ADD MEMBER” and invite further contacts to your group. If there are other sub-topics of this group you are asked if the new contacts shall be members of all sub-topics or only of one/two…
  4. After you confirmed your selection the new contacts are part of the group.

 
Note:
You may also add an external member to a sub-topic who, however, is not part of the main-group. For further information: “How can I add external members to a sub-topic?

You must be an administrator of the group to delete members of a group. To delete a member of a group proceed as follows:

  1. Go to the respective group.
  2. Tap the group name and you will be redirected to an overview of information on the group.
  3. Tap the member you wish to delete and choose “Delete from group”. If you want to delete this person from the main-group you are asked if you also want to delete him/her from the sub-topic(s). After you confirmed your selection, the member is deleted from the group.

When using the bubble design, single chats are represented in smaller bubbles as group chats. There is also a filter feature which can be activated for every design. If you tap the group chat icon, BubCon will show all group chats. If you tap the icon once more, only single chats are shown.

Only the administrator can create new sub-topics and exclude members. If you want to create a new sub-topic, but want to exclude members who are part of the main-group, please proceed as follows:

  1. Go to the main-screen.
  2. Look for the group chat, in which you wish to create a new sub-topic.
  3. Press and hold the group chat.
  4. Tap “Create/Edit sub-topic”.
  5. Tap the plus icon to create a new sub-topic.
  6. Enter a new name for the sub-topic and confirm with OK. Afterwards you can leave out check marks for the people you do not want to add to the new sub-topic.

Yes. With BubCon you can position your favorite chats (single- or group chats) at the top. As a result they will not “slide down”. Normally chats will slide down as soon as you receive new messages in other chats. You can position up to three chats at the top. In order to do so, please proceed as follows:

  1. Go to the main-screen.
  2. Press and hold the chat you wish to position at the top.
  3. Tap “Chat always at the top” and the slide bar will switch to “ON”. The feature is represented with a pushpin icon on the chosen chat.

Sending stickers is quite simple. Next to the input field, in which you can type a message, there is a smiley. As soon as you tab the smiley there is a bar with emojis and BubCon stickers. Select the BubCon mascot (second icon in the bar) and you can choose from a great variety of BubCon stickers.

Sub-topic

To create a new sub-topic you must be an administrator. In single-chats you are automatically an administrator and therefore can create sub-topics.

You can create up to 8 sub-topics to a single- or group chat. If you wish to do so, please proceed as follows:

  1. Go to the main-screen.
  2. Look for the respective chat (single- or group chat) that you want to edit.
  3. Tap and hold the chat until a context menu opens.
  4. Choose “Create/Edit sub-topic”.
  5. Tap the Plus-Icon to create a new sub-topic.
  6. Give your new sub-topic a name and confirm with OK. In group chats you can also choose the group members.
  7. To chat you only have to tap the new sub-topic.

 
Alternative: Tap the Plus-Icon (underneath/next to the chat) to create a new sub-topic.

You must be an administrator of the group to rename a sub-topic. In single-chats you automatically are an administrator and therefore can rename sub-topics. To rename a sub-topic proceed as follows:

  1. Go to the main-screen.

  3. Tap and hold the chat until a context menu opens.
  4. Choose “Rename sub-topic”
  5. Now you can enter the new name of the sub-topic and confirm it with “Continue”

 
Alternative: Go to the information of a sub-topic by tapping on the name of it. With the help of the Pen-Symbol you can also change the current name.

As an administrator you can add external members to sub-topics. External members do not have access to the main-group and only communicate in the sub-topics they were invited to. If you wish to add external members to a sub-topic please proceed as follows:

  1. Go to the respective group.
  2. Tap the group name and you will be redirected to an overview of information on the group.
  3. Tap “ADD MEMBER” and choose from your contacts.nThe person is then depicted as “External member” in the overview of information.

 
Note:
When a member is added to a sub-topic as an external member, he/she can only see that sub-topic on his/her BubCon main-screen. The main-group and possible other sub-topics are not depicted. However, if this person is then added to the main-group, you can decide if he/she shall also be a member of other sub-topics. Furthermore, you can make him/her an administrator of the main-group.This person is then also an administrator of all sub-topics and has access to all of them.
